Jessica
When she is not traveling the globe with her husband and children, Jessica Helfand is currently Senior Critic at Yale School of Art’s graduate program in graphic design. One of the founders of Design Observer, she is the author of several books, including Screen: Essays on Graphic Design New Media and Visual Culture (2001) and Reinventing the Wheel (2002), both published by Princeton Architectural Press. Her most recent book, Scrapbooks: An American History (2008: Yale University Press) was named the best coffee-table book of the year by the New York Times. Helfand was appointed to the Citizens Stamp Advisory Commmittee in 2006, where she currently chairs the design subcommittee. She received her B.A. in architectural theory and her M.F.A. in graphic design, both from Yale University.
